Trekking in the Himalayas is, in every sense of the words, an uplifting experience. The special attraction of Nepal lies in its spectacular beauty and its unique cultures. Whether you are looking for a wilderness experience or a classic trek, Nepal has everything to offer. Regardless of where you go, you will encounter a great diversity of geography, climate and ethnicity. The people of Nepal are friendly and welcoming, and the great highlight of trekking in this Kingdom is the interactions you will have with the people of Nepal and their wonderfully diverse cultures, practices and traditions.

We offer a number of different styles of trekking trip such as classic, expeditionary, luxury, and family, each of which may involve camping, staying in tea-houses or a combination of both. The downloadable trip dossiers for each trek will set out precisely what style of trek it is, who will be leading it, and what you can expect to be doing on any given day.

TREK LENGTHS:

We have divided the treks into three sections - Some of the itineraries in these sections represent tried, tested and popular routes. Others are unique to Himalayan Frontiers and take you into the wilderness.
Short Treks From 4 days to a week
Medium Treks Around two weeks
Long Treks 2 to 5 weeks

TREK GRADES:

We have graded all our treks using the simple formula of Easy, Moderate, Demanding and Strenuous. Whilst the dossiers provide specific details of your day to day activities and altitudinal variations, the following is a basic guideline for our grades:

Easy

We walk on good trails and generally at low altitudes for only short periods at a time. These trips are suitable for anyone with a basic level of fitness.

Moderate

A reasonable level of fitness is required as there may be some challenging days in the itinerary. The trails may be less obvious, the ascent/descent more steep, and the altitude gain more significant.

Demanding

We will be crossing high passes, glaciers, and making steep ascents and descents, so you will need to have a good level of fitness, and preferably some previous altitudinal experience. The trails may be awkward at times, and we may remain at high altitudes for long periods. It will be cold at night, and the trip may involve long days of walking.

Strenuous

Basic mountaineering skills are required for these trips, which will involve extended periods at altitude, some tricky pass crossings, very low temperatures and long days of walking, often on difficult terrain. You will need a high level of fitness, and a real sense of adventure.
