Summary
An excursion to Royal Chitwan National Park is one of the finest wildlife experiences in Asia. Whether you ride on elephant-back through the dawn mist in search of the Royal Bengal tiger or float down the Rapti river in a dugout canoe to view the strange looking Gharial crocodile, the paradise of Chitwan is not to be missed.

Trip Description
In 1984, UNESCO designated Royal Chitwan National Park a Natural World Heritage Site. Covering over 900sq km, the Park offers protection to 56 species of mammals including the one-horned rhinoceros, Bengal tiger, leopard, sloth bear, wild elephant, striped hyena, Gangetic dolphin and wild bison. There are estimated to be 470 species of mammals, over 450 species of birds, 126 species of fish, 150 species of butterflies and 47 species of reptiles in the park.

Over a period of three days, an experienced guide will accompany us on various excursions through the Park to see the flora and fauna of the region. Substantial areas of the Park are cloaked in sal forest, and in the clearings, elephant grass grows up to 8m high, and bamboo and kusum trees complete the picture. A trip to the Park is not complete without a safari excursion on elephant-back, providing an excellent opportunity to see wildlife at close quarters from a safe vantage point. In the morning, as the sun breaches the horizon and the mists rise, we mount our elephants and move silently through the tall grass searching for the elusive tiger.

Your accommodation inside the Park perimeter is in the deluxe Temple Tiger Lodge. Built from natural materials, this well-appointed lodge blends perfectly with its jungle surroundings and offers very comfortable facilities, all with en-suite bathrooms. The individual thatch roof bungalows are tastefully decorated with private solar powered hot and cold running showers, and each has a private viewing area over the grasslands.
